Up to 8 tests per minute. A traceroute to a slow target can take up to two minutes.

Reading the results

What the numbers tell you.

Latency

The time of a round trip, in milliseconds. The lower it is, the faster your service responds: compare locations to choose the one closest to your users.

The path

Traceroute and MTR list the networks crossed. A hop that does not respond (* * *) is often normal: many routers ignore these tests.

Loss

Loss that shows on one hop but not on the next ones comes from the router, not the path. Only loss on the last hop really matters.
